Congratulations to Seaford Striders’ latest Couch to 5K (C25K) group, who celebrated their graduation by running Seaford Beach parkrun.
The event was the culmination of nine weeks of training, taking the 35-strong group from walking to a non-stop 5km run. The C25K graduates received special commemorative rosettes for the occasion and were joined by Strider supporters to help them to go the distance.
Couch to 5k member Gill Sole said: “What a journey! Spurred on by the fantastic support of the Seaford Striders and by the enthusiasm and commitment of all who signed up to the challenge, over nine fantastic weeks of build up we got to the end game – the Seaford parkrun.”
She added: “I went from running for a minute at a time in week one to completing the 5k run in 31 minutes! A great sense of achievement. Thank you Seaford Striders.”
Couch to 5K was organised by leader Steven Teale who led the warm up each week as well as being a run leader alongside group leaders Jeanette Wells and Leanne Litster. A number of C25k graduates have since joined Seaford Striders on their weekly runs and also attended the Club’s weekly track sessions at Lewes Leisure Centre.
